Beating of Two Men Reported in Corry by Youth Gang

Corry police investigated an assault on two middle aged men, Robert Cornish and Norman Reisinger, by a group of eight to nine youths emerging from a red van at Mill and East Main streets. The attackers fled toward Union City after assaulting the victims. Union City sources note the van was seen earlier in Mill Village and involved in a gang fight. Firemen dispersed a separate disturbance there with two hoses. Both cities cooperate on identifying the van occupants.

The Corry Area School District prepares its first year for a new vocational technical facility. CAHS Coaches Discrimination Gets Still Another Boot

Corry Area School District moved toward gender pay equality by raising supplemental contracts for girls basketball coach Linda Yeaney from 707 to 1044 and assistant coach Patrick Walsh from 353 to 522. The board cited games played players involved and practice sessions as criteria to level contracts next year.

Police Check Crashes And Series Of Burglaries

State police of the Corry barracks reported auto crashes, hit and runs, and burglaries over two days. Incidents included a truck horse collision on Route 6 near Spartansburg, front fender damage from a back-into hit, a Sparta Fair car hit, and a gasoline pump damage at Madison Equipment Co. Tools, welding equipment, and multiple tools were stolen from several residences in Spring Creek, Union City, and Titusville, with totals ranging from 100 to 396 dollars. Burglaries at Corry and Lord and Mercer service stations yielded cash and frothing losses.

State Auditor Sentenced for Drug Theft in Erie County

Lawrence I. Laby, 46, of Pittsburgh, the state auditor tasked with inventory duties, pled guilty to stealing drugs at Eckerd's Drugs in Erie. He was fined 100 and placed on two years probation by Judge Lindley McClelland after authorities recovered Valium and Futurcim tablets and $150 in stolen drugs from his car. The case involved a firm auditing drug sources and led to arraignment before District Justice Porter Auer.
