Anthony Guzzilo of Ol City pleaded none contendre to Meza possession of liquor. Judge Lee McCracken ordered a $400 fine plus costs and six months in Venango County Jail. On another charge he was fined $1,000 with costs and one year in jail.
Sought by police at the request of relatives Marjorie Smith 17 of 1029 Walnut Street reportedly eloped with Louis Stackhouse 22 after Tuesday night, with plans to marry. Owing to a new federal ruling it is incompatible for a borough council member to hold a WPA project position. Councilman Wade Geer of Johnsonburg has resigned from the borough council and his WPA project role, accepted at a short session. Other notes cover visitors, an accident victim in hospital in serious condition after a road collision near the city, and an American Legion Auxiliary rummage sale Saturday at the former Western Auto location.
Miss Helen F Deck won the Republican nomination for treasurer of Franklin County in a five candidate field and will face Democratic nominee Mrs Maury Prentice Miller. Also arriving for a weekend visit were Mr and Mrs Morris Cohen and daughter Marcia of Detroit Abe Cohen of Pittsburgh and several others at N Cohen home in North Central Street.
Edward S. Rowe 39 attempted to murder his best friend's wife Lauri Milliman 47 in Monessen Pennsylvania and then shot himself. Milliman received flesh wounds that were painful but not serious. Rowe died from a self-inflicted gunshot.
