Newsday reports a year long federal probe found mob infiltration and extortion within the U S Marshals Service. The investigation tied several resignations among marshals and deputies and uncovered tests of a witness protection system in multiple states. A Newark New Jersey deputy and others face charges or involvement in wrongdoing linked to witnesses and drug schemes.
London AP report says Leopold Stokowski famed as one of the world’s greatest conductors died at his Hampshire home of a heart attack at age 95. A CBS Records spokesman noted he died in his sleep after signing a contract to work until 100. He had several marriages but was unmarried at death.
The Columbus Township Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors will meet on September 26 for a public hearing to consider amending the Columbus Township Zoning Ordinance and adding language to Article VIII. The session will be at the township building at 7 p.m. Residents may appear and copies of the zoning ordinance will be available. After the hearing a joint meeting will consider actions and the planning commission will also conduct a general business meeting.
