Dems Gather Bonanza At Fund Dinner
Harrisburg AP reports Pennsylvania Democrats tallied a major fundraising night with 7500 to 8000 attendees paying $100 each, generating an estimated $700000. Sen Joseph M Barr touted the turnout as grassroots momentum for a November victory while Pittsburgh Mayor David Lawrowice urged vigilance against complacency. The state committee backed a nonpartisan tax study platform and nominated Curtis Bok for state supreme court with action pending on a congressional candidate. Gov Leader pledged support for the party platform and highlighted proposals on industrial loans, college scholarships, mental health clinics, and radar use in prosecutions, noting overlap with GOP aims after 1957 cuts.
