Post Office Reports First Class Mail Time and Air Mail Comparison

Washington AP The Post Office Department released its first statistical report on first class and air mail quality. It finds average first class delivery 1.6 days during the holiday rush and 1.5 days in the January–March period, with air mail faster only on longer routes. The study covers two three month periods in 1968 and aims to identify weak points and guide improvements. It notes urban routes often lag behind less populated connections and supports keeping air mail as a separate class.
