Erie Officers Engineer Round Up to Start Car Thieves

Meadville Sept 11 Erie Railroad Detective James Stevens and two other officers arrested two men Allen Francia and Harry Keyser with a youth Lowell Bell after a string of Ohio thefts. The trio admitted multiple robberies along the Erie line including Hiram Garrettsville Mahoning, with the boy providing locations of hidden loot. The two older men have prison histories. a grand jury will hear their cases next week. A trolley survey meeting in Sherman appointed a committee and set Monday to begin the survey from the Columbus end toward Bilnime.

Fell Thru Erie R R Trestle In Dark

Chester Hathaway aged fifty walked home from Lovells station when he plunged through an open gap between Erie tracks west of the city and tumbled about twenty feet into a creek bed. Passersby heard his groans and rescued him, then he was taken home for medical care. He was seriously bruised but not fatally harmed.

Hitchcock Cases Postponed to November Trial

The cases against M M Hy Hite of Heaverham and the Hurl boy, linked to Hitchcock, were sent from the coming term of criminal court to the county court and postponed to the November term. Both trials originally set for Erie next week were rescheduled after attorney agreement. Weather shows showers tonight and cloudy Saturday.

Attempted Robbery at Adams Office in Corry

Agent Keefe foiled an attempted robbery at the Adams Express Company office in Corry. C D Batley, from Sheffield, pulled a money bag from a driver and fled after a bad check for 25 dollars was cashed at the European Hotel. No arrest yet, and a bank dispute follows. London dispatch notes German morale drop and 1500 prisoners taken. Berlin reports Russian left tank crushed in East Prussia.
