Burton B. Gideon was formally charged with the murder of Mrs. Rose Szabo after autopsy findings at Greenwood Lake in July. The probe cited wrenched windpipe and internal organs warranting microscopic and chemical analysis, with no conclusive poison determination yet.
A mob of thousands killed her, struck and mutilated the 15-year-old girl in public square, while authorities seized a Black suspect who confessed outrage and deadly harm. The mob later damaged and dragged the victim’s body to a pole. several arrests followed amid uproar. Local officials moved involved parties to safer custody and deployed troops to quell the outbreak.
A trainee named Monford at a Mexican aviation school suffered fatal injuries while watching a flight. An aircraft struck him as he stood near the field, fracturing ribs and piercing a lung. He died at Napsaw hospital after the collision during a practice run witnessed by Gustave Sullivans and H Rulas.

Adjutant General Salo in Washington has been asked to name officers to recruit and train new members quickly for possible cross border action into Mexico.
A fragmentary telegraph-style report describes U S officials moving Mexican troops through territory to Sonora as rebels led by Orozco prepare for a potential march on the border. It notes US officers aboard and armed trains, plus a possible redeployment from Fort Sheridan under General Potts.
Hazleton township teachers faced a unique preemployment pledge from Superintendent James Gubrieth requiring applicants to promise not to wed during the nine month school term. William Sullivan chief operator of the Postal Telegraph company saved Louis Leopold sixteen of Philadelphia from drowning near the steel pier. Leopold shouted for help after tiring while swimming. Sullivan threw a chair overboard and buoyed the youth with a lifebuoy then supported him with others from the Spanish War Veterans until aid arrived. Leopold revived by Surgeon General M G Cackes of Salina Kansas. Sullivan returned to duty after the rescue.
A factory tour train named Made In Pittsburg departs carrying local exhibits to 18 states across the Midwest and South. More than 100 business leaders ride as chamber of commerce partners showcase regional products. The special train includes four exhibition cars and moving theaters with a daily newspaper published aboard.
New York report states Nathan Gil, treasurer and stockholder in two silk and textile firms in Paterson, drank cyanide Monday after fearing company failure and believing life insurance would cover liabilities. Petitions in bankruptcy were filed against United Silk Manufacturing and Gil & Cohen Company, both with mills in Paterson, as creditors sought relief.
