Teenager Stars For Chisox in pennant race bid
Teenager Johnny Callison, 19, recalled from Indianapolis after leading the American Association with 29 homers, went 3 for 3 as the Chicago White Sox beat Boston 4-1. He drove in the tying run with a double and scored on Barry Wynn's winning single in the sixth, then doubled again in the eighth. The win kept pressure on the Yankees and the pennant race, while other AL games featured Cleveland and Detroit, and Kansas City's explosive 8-6 win over Baltimore with Ward homering three times.

Majors Seek Solution To Bonus and Draft Reform
CHICAGO AP The major leagues ended their meeting agreeing on action for the bonus rule, the draft law, and minor league realignment. A nine man committee led by Cleveland GM Jink Lane will study a new bonus rule and report by December. A six man panel will press for minor league realignment from AAA classification. Commissioner Ford Frick indicated owners favor revising the draft rule but no proposals were offered. Last winter a new draft rule allowed selection of any number of players with four years’ experience from one club, up from one per club. Draft price rose from 10 000 to 25 000. The leagues also addressed the radio TV problem and allotted another 750000 to the minor league emergency fund, nearly exhausted from the original half million given to Bill DeWitt for fund coordination.
