Home town judge keeps thief in custody in Ellsworth
Charles A. Royal, 18, faced larceny charges in Ellsworth after a Pittsburgh court case. Municipal Judge Joh G. Pollen found probable cause to hold him for grand jury action. Royal, who pleaded innocent, posted a $1,000 bond and was put on probation after clemency letters from Ellsworth residents. He later surrendered to authorities in Pittsburgh, admitting the used car theft was to obtain money to return home.
