Ridgway residents learn that Mr and Mrs Jones of Tokia Japan are safe after an earthquake and fire. The notice confirms their children, an Alsop couple, and Esther Balderston, formerly of Ridgway, as part of the family connected to the missionary work in Tokio.
Ongoing farmer O. T. Ongley announces a public sale of his Holstein herd at Sel Fink Ridge Farm near Grand Valley and Titusville. On September 18, 1928 starting at 10 am, 22 cows and 3 heifers, several with records up to 0211, will be auctioned along with farm implements, hay, and grain. The herd centers on Souis Pontiac and Korndyke breeding. the sale offers cash options and credit terms over ten months with interest.
Mr Payne, acting as agent, announces Lee will acquire a lakeside property at Canadohta Lake east of Ruggles Park. The estate includes a double house and power plant with 27 acres, planning improvements such as gravel roads, new cottages, electric lighting, hot and cold water, baths and toilets. The site will remain private for guests seeking rest and comfort.
Walter Iudsing and family suffered a reported incident near Johnstown three miles west of town after returning from Dhan Kinks. The Thudnor family car collided with Josvert Jan and then with B Fikbig's vehicle, skidding into a third car. Two women in the latter were thrown from the road and a Packard carrying Albany residents fell ten feet down an embankment to avoid further crashes.
The will of the late President Warren G. Harding was filed for probate today in Marion. Charles D. Schaffner, former bank cashier and lifelong friend of the President, was named executor as Mrs. Harding Attorney General Daugherty and Hoke Doniphan appeared in court with Schaffner.
A 1908 letter relayed by the Kane Republican warns of potential Ku Klux Klan demonstrations across Pennsylvania within a week possibly Friday or Saturday night. The message promises to provide further details on locations and times, noting statewide demonstrations may include several towns.
Navy dispatches report American war relief flotilla reaching Japan with destroyers and supplies. Admiral Anderson’s Asiatic Fleet messages say ships arrived at Yokohama, carrying aid for stricken cities. The fleet, led from a flagship, moves to accelerate relief efforts.
