Barn Fire Leaves Sugar Grove Farm House Destroyed
Sparks from burning cement ignited the Alden Rowley farm on Route 3 three miles east of Sugar Grove. The fire leveled the barn and damaged nearby structures. Total loss estimated between 1900 and 4000 dollars, partially insured. Clarice Rowley discovered the blaze and Sugar Grove volunteers, led by Chief Scott Stuart, battled the flames. A second alarm from Lamning Hull proved unnecessary as Busti volunteers assisted. Over 500 bushels of oats, a milking machine, and tools were destroyed along with storage of wheat and straw.
