Erie officials dropped the payroll tax plan after earlier consideration of a sales tax. Mayor Gale Ross clashed with Finance Director Sherman Hickey Jr who urged increasing fees instead. The mayor said the payroll levy is definitely out and questioned why the idea was discussed.
The Berean Society of Ile Butte held a wiener roast at the home of Mr and Mrs Robert Damned on Friday.
