Cathy Downey completed a two year Peace Corps assignment in Africa under Dutch doctor Eric DeWinter at the district government hospital. A 1966 Mercyhurst College sociology graduate, she and Kitty Steel traveled villages, gave tuberculin tests, located positive cases, and arranged x rays and home treatment. The return home follows a period of service praised by her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Downey.
