Mayor Zalzneck vows strict enforcement on stray dogs to pressure owners to confine pets.
New York AP reports Herbert Hoover, 88, underwent an eight hour operation at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Doctors said the tumor was cancerous but recurrence is anticipated, indicating they have controlled the cancer.
City Council meets on White street paving and curbing with Mead avenue trees and a city income tax contract under review. Streets director J R Dearing walks out in protest over sewer concerns as Mayor Zalaveck moves to authorize curb laying by Mayer Brother Construction Co for 2559 per foot. City Cornel's regia meeting last night decided two trees must be removed to widen Mead avenue for a sidewalk program. The second tree, near Mead and Elk, must go to prevent proximity issues with the street and Elk corner home. Senate Post Office Committee tentatively supports House plan to cut first class and airmail postage by one cent while proposing substitute increases for the entailed rates. In New Orleans about 15 Negroes desegregated Catholic archdiocese schools serving 48,000 pupils. first public desegregation in 1960 was contested by protests and boycotts.
Corry fire equipment was summoned at 1:15 this afternoon to respond to a false alarm from the Jamestown plant number three on East Columbus Avenue.
