No Inquest Held in Scott Crossing Death
Coroner Ed Lowry investigated the Erie Railroad air crash at Scott Crossing where Bert Hinsdale was killed. A verdict of accidental death was recorded after interviewing witnesses and state police. Hinsdale, of Chandler's Valley, was en route to a public sale near the crossing when struck by Erie No. 7 locomotive. Police recovered a stolen car in Titusville after a tip from Mrs. Roy Skimner. Officer Harley Drake traced the vehicle to East Wayne Street and found a coat bearing the name L. W. Ruttan. The car had been parked near the Titusville home of Arch Stresson and was later driven away by the owner’s son.
