Warren National Bank advertises Dr. Leonhardt's Hem-Reid internal medicine to cure piles. It claims external remedies fail to address the internal cause and markets tablets priced at $1.00 per large box through N. P. Ames & Co. and druggists nationwide.
Henry Clay Bealls Jr stands at the witness stand as cross examination exposes blood stained clothing tied to the wife he is accused of murdering. Prosecutor Lewis Wedenburg relentlessly questions the blood marks and Bealls falters only under his fiercest scrutiny. The judge adjourns after hours of testimony with the defense weakened by revealed relations with Beulah Binford and disputed physical facts.
Frank Gotch defeats challenger in decisive two straight falls. The bout showcases Gotch’s superior control and technique as he dominates both rounds, earning a clear victory and extending his dominance in the sport.
New York reports Catherine Van Wyck, 20, daughter of Albert Van Wyck of Brooklyn, shot dead at a Quogue cottage. William A. Childs, formerly of Englewood, then killed himself. Friends say Childs was infatuated. another young man, Clarence Fraissinet, a son of Leoni Fraissinet, was said to have pursued Miss Van Wyck too.
Chicago, Sept. 5. Gotch, an Iowa farmer, defeated Hackenschmidt in two straight falls to retain the world wrestling championship. First fall 14 minutes 1915 seconds, second fall 5 minutes 215 seconds, with Gotch executing a fatal toe hold to secure the title. Hackenschmidt entered untrained and weak, unable to match Gotch’s precise technique and strength.
