Severe frost hits area as yacht sinks near Barcelona
A brutal frost swept the region with official readings near 9 degrees, while some city thermometers dropped into the upper twenties. A yacht owned by Dr. W. G. Hayward of Jamestown, previously Hull family of Tulsa and Mayville, sank at Barcelona harbor after winds increased, sending the craft to fill and go down as the Haywards reached shore in a dinghy.

Plane overshoots runway injuring two near Jamestown
A Stinson 10A aircraft overshot the Municipal Airport runway near Jamestown on September 4 injuring two men returning from Rochester. The nose struck the ground end of the landing strip and the plane rested down the slope. An unidentified man was a passenger. A Smith of Rochester was the other occupant. Henderson and Lincoln ambulance vans responded. no bill was needed. Witnesses said the plane did not brake until about two thirds of the way down the north south strip.

Factory boiler house fire at Jamestown plant
Falconer firemen battled three blazes over Labor Day weekend with the worst occurring Tuesday morning at the Jamestown Steel Partitions Plant boiler house. The interior and roof were badly damaged, water dumped in to subdue flames, and losses were estimated around 19,000 dollars.

Pork price case ends with fines and schedules
Clayton, Judge John M Myerser, Hartley were charged with laps today regarding OPA price rules on pork. The judge imposed a $100 fine and ordered costs for Frank Shennan and Emlen. Bartley and K D Sherman and his brother were scheduled for sentencing next Wednesday.
