Launch Drive To Keep I S Home In Erie

Erie Mayor Arthur Gardner led a campaign against legislation moving a new Soldiers and Sailors Home to Indiantown Gap. The bill, set for third reading September 12 in the state House, would appropriate land and potentially fund a future home, despite no current appropriation. Gardner urged defeat and planned talks with area lawmakers, arguing it wastes funds on a new facility instead of repairs to the existing Erie home. The measure is sponsored by Dauphin County’s legislative delegation.
