Five Year World Debt Plan Proposed at Amsterdam Conference
Dr. Lewis L Lorwin of the Institute of Economics in Washington urged at an international conference in Amsterdam for an eight year moratorium on war debts and reparations with a phased series of international loans tied to tariff controls. He argues united action could ease global trade barriers and spur economic stability, while warning against tariff walls that would hamper recovery. A separate appraisal notes a healthy trend toward plain living and better health, as fewer amusements and simpler diets correlate with slightly lower mortality and steady health indicators.
