In our opinion we sympathize with demonstrators urging harsher penalties for sex offenders and against early release. The protest followed the rape and throat-slashing of a 19 year old woman by a man with prior sex offenses who was on a pass from Harrisburg State Hospital. A voluntary inmate could not be forced to return.
