Fire destroys Martin Kunz barn in Versa County
A night blaze at Martin Kunz farm in Pleasantville Township, Versa County, consumed a fire damaged barn and attached garage with a wrecked 1948 sedan, welding gear, and equipment. Fire units saved nearby structures. no insurance covered the building or most equipment. Fire started during gas line repairs when gas ignition and an explosion spread fumes through the garage. Westcoat and Sturgis escaped. the car was later hauled out as flames roared.
