Rowdy Friday Night Police Nabs Multiple Disorderly Fights
Numerous disorderly conduct arrests followed a rowdy Friday night at CAHS football game and local venues. William Lindenberger, 19, of 315 Warren Street, faced disorderly conduct charges after a sidelines fight and obscene language. two off duty troopers helped eject him. At the Central Labor Club, David Wingard, 28, of Pulaski Tennessee, cited for loud, intoxicated behavior and a refused exit, and Raymond Richardson, 27, of R D Corry, arrested for disorderly conduct moments later. Police also investigated two thefts, including $9 gas pilferage at Stop and Go on North Center Street and a $25 sweatshirt stolen from a high school locker. A Corry motorist received a citation for running a red light, and Toni Morris, 19, cited for not stopping at North Center and Smith Streets. A minor bus incident near the high school was also investigated.

Boy 13 Hangs Self in Halloween House Tragedy
In Dunn North Carolina a 13 year old boy died in what authorities call an accidental hanging inside a church carnival house of horrors. Keith L Norris was found kneeling with a makeshift noose made from nylon strap. Dr Brad B Randall performed the autopsy and ruled the death accidental. The incident occurred after the Halloween carnival hosted by Leslie Methodist Church ended.

Obituary of Robert E. Vanderhoof

Car Train Crash Here Kills Elgin Man 18
An 18 year old Elgin man, James F Gates, was killed when his pickup stalled on a private road crossing and was struck by a Conrail train traveling 50 mph near Elgin. The crash occurred at 6 p.m yesterday, with Gate’s body pronounced at the scene. Gerald Butterworth and William D Thompson of Meadville operated and engineered the train. Gates, born May 12, 1959, was a Corry Area High School junior, employed part time by Kendrick Janitorial Service, and a weekend security worker at Cooper Energy Services. He is survived by parents, a brother, grandparents, and great grandmother. funeral arrangements were set with Hravken Funeral Home.

Letter mixup stains message from ex president on Helms support
A Raleigh attorney Gerald Bass received a misaddressed note from former President Gerald Ford that misspelled his name and urged support for Senator Jesse Helms. Bass, a Democrat, said he likely would not back Helms, noting the odd closing line from Ford. In Cleveland, a bank robbery earlier yielded a bag of cash but no gun, as the teller said the robber was too short to reach it and a bystander handed over the money.
