James Clark, a former Corry native and 1973 Taylor University graduate, is appointed youth minister at Sunrise Chapel in Plymouth Indiana. He brings extensive Youth for Christ experience, a Bible quiz world title in 1968, and prior musical and mission work. Clark is the son of Russell and Gertrude Clark of Upland and grandson of Agnes Johnson of Corry. He will oversee diverse youth programs at the church.
Rebecca Ann Hart and Mike W Magoon wed in a 4 pm ceremony at First Presbyterian with Rev H Kenyon Leishman officiating. The bride wore nylon organza gown with heirloom accessories and carried yellow fuji chrysanthemums. maid of honor and bridesmaids wore yellow and green ensembles, while James Forker served as best man and Jeff Hart as usher.
Mrs Norma McCray of R D 3 Corry was honored at a stork shower hosted by her sister in law at Meadville. Guests enjoyed a teddy bear themed table, games with prizes to Mrs Winnie Hildum Kay Wade Eleanor Henery and Miss Joan Henery and a special award to Mrs Victoria Davis mother of the honoree. Reception at Fellowship Hall featured a three tier cake and gifts. The couple will reside at 1030 North Center Street.
A baby shower at 327 East Washington honors Mrs. William Hayes and her infant son Jamie William. Hostesses include Mrs. Charles E Jackson Jr. with guests from Eric and nearby families. Prizes, pastel decorations, and gifts marked the event. The guest list features numerous Jacksons and McMichaels. Mr and Mrs Daniel Tharp and Mrs Ruth Miller visited here then returned home to Frostburg and Midland Md after a vacation with the Bells. Bethany Sunday School met at Mrs Bernice Marshs home for a threen supper, group singing and devotions. Tri Hi Y bake sale set for tomorrow in front of Sears. Anniversary wishes go to Mr and Mrs Harry Miles on their 48th. Tri Hi Y canvass planned to raise United Fund contributions. Rev John Patterson to preach at First United Methodist Corry in evangelistic service tomorrow at 7 pm. Special music by Chancel Choir and trumpeter Wendell Gage. Also a household tip for catching drips from a leaky milk carton with foil.
YMCA Auxiliary schedules workshop sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays in preparation for the Christmas Bazaar on November 14 at the Y from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event offers lunches 60 cent tickets, dessert, and a fish pond for children with booths including white elephants, baked goods, and used books. Local families including the Harts welcome the new-born son at Union City Memorial Hospital, with details on chairmen and volunteer needs.
Announcement reports the marriage of Miss Christine Jaquith of R D 2 Corry and Jimmy D. Hess son of Mr and Mrs Gene Hess of Leadville Colorado. The couple wed October 18 in Disputanta Virginia with Hess stationed at Fort Lee serving in the Army Special Forces. a reception will follow later and they plan to live in Virginia.
William S. Eaton of the Corry Journal spoke to the College Women's Club at the YMCA on a theme about comparing the good old days to today. Miss Rhonda Gemellas and Mrs. Frances Church were named to the publicity committee. hospitality service was provided by October members. The next meeting will be December 3 at 6 30 p m with a Christmas buffet at the Corry Motor Inn and a Voices of Love program. Reservations: Mrs. Mary Matson or Mrs. Glenn Middleton by November 26.
