Two Raymond Plant Workers Injured In Separate Accidents

Two workers at the Raymond Mfg. Co. were injured within a half hour. Kerneth Loveland of East Malmstreet admitted to Derry Memorial Hospital with a severed left index tendon after his finger was caught while setting up a grinding machine. Marlee Johnson of Corry was treated for a thumb laceration sustained when his thumb was caught in a punch press.

Atomic Bomb Drop Called Off At Nevada Test Site

The Atomic Energy Commission cancelled a scheduled second atomic test near Las Vegas Nevada after weather conditions remained poor. A red tailed B 29 bomber was seen heading away as restrictions on civilians were lifted and officials warned radiation could not be ruled out.

Army Reserve Release Plans Now Revealed

Army spokesman outlined reservist release policies under the UMTS Act. All organized reservists serve 24 months except those with preexisting early expirations. Enlisted veterans and non veterans from volunteer or inactive reserve to be released by December 20. voluntary enlistees released after 17 months or at extended expiry. Officer veterans may apply after 17 months. non veteran officers serve 24 months.

In Oak Ridge Temm., labor disruptions halt work on three major atomic plant contracts as over 2,500 AFL workers do not report. New Traffic Light Goes Into Service on Center Street

A traffic light was installed at the North Center and East Bond intersection by city electical contractor Robert Besnyind to improve safety after several youngsters were struck while crossing Center Street near the Junior High. The signal will operate with a standard five phase cycle during school hours and flash caution at other times. A crosswalk at North Center Street will be marked and students instructed on its use.

Milk deliveries resume in New York after strike

Deliveries of milk are back in New York after a two year strike ended with a new two year contract. About 15 thousand drivers and dairy workers in 200+ companies will see a price rise of roughly 10 to 13 percent. Corry Railroader Receives 40 Year Lodge Pin

Charles Bennett of Luang Street, a retired Pennsylvania Railroad engineer, was awarded the 40 year pin for 40 consecutive years in Lodge No. 173 of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He began with Pennsy in 1903, served as fireman, became engineer in 1907, and ran on the Buffalo Oil City Olean route before seven more years in the Corry yards. Presentation was made by W C Patterson, a fellow 40-year member.

Corry Fathers Ordered to Pay Support in Erie Court

Two Corry fathers were ordered to provide weekly child support after hearings in Erie non-support court. Eric D. Three members of a Cleveland family died when their private plane plunged into the Potomac River. Thom as H.
