New Highway Improves Highland to Ridgway Route
Completion of 712 miles of blacktop from Highland to Montmorenci enables a paved link toward Ridgway with a 19 mile Kane to Highland to Ridgway segment, 1.5 miles unimproved and 6 miles shorter than the Wilcox route. A 112 mile Montmorenci to Ridgway stretch remains dirt. Bridges were built over Big Mill Creek and the Highland to Route 68 section eliminates hills and tight curves, improving travel for Sciota area residents and aiding access to Ridgway.
