2900 Men to Work on Federal Highways in 10 Days
Erie WPA officials announced a $1,145,803 federal grant will put 2,900 men to work on northwestern Pennsylvania highways over the next 10 days. Of this total 1,424 Erie county relief workers join a broader program that includes 396 men in Crawford, 240 in Clarion, 24 in Forest, 808 in Venango and 272 in Warren. Work focuses on landscaping, beautification and grading along routes US 20 6 79 98 99 and 4 under highway department supervision.

Injury repeats for Dave Frank in Oil City hospital
Dave Frank of East Second street remained hospitalized at Oil City with an injury to his left leg after a motor block slipped and fell on him while he was moving it to a waiting truck. A rural mail carrier from Clearfield died today when his car left the highway and plunged down an embankment. He was killed instantly when he bent to pick up mail and momentarily looked away from the road. He is survived by his widow and a grown family.
