The road will be closed about six hours each day during drying periods with detours via the old Route 6. U S Marines report sighting about 405 North Vietnamese troops in four columns moving through jungle foothills southwest of Da Nang. Artillery and air strikes killed roughly 170 enemy soldiers. Civilian casualties included at least four killed and 13 wounded as the bombing campaign against North Vietnam continued with large B 52 strikes near Saigon.
Defense efforts to suppress material seized at Sirhan Bishara Sirhan’s home failed. Prosecutors say notebooks and papers, including a memo referencing Kennedy’s assassination, may be used if helpful.
