Air Force General Faults North Vietnam Bombing Limits
Retired Maj. Gen. Gilbert E. Myers told a Senate preparedness subcommittee that restricting bombing in North Vietnam led to higher pilot and aircraft losses. He said targets were doled out slowly and that more lucrative strikes were blocked from Washington, reducing effectiveness. Generals Greene and Johnson backed stronger air power while McNamara noted many requested targets remained unauthorized.
