Spring Creek Plans Road Celebration

Samuel S. Lewis state highway secretary and Thomas C. Frame will attend the opening of the 4.84 mile Spring Creek to Garland concrete highway. Officials, lawmakers, and local leaders will speak at eight at the Spring Creek intersection followed by a Warren band dance. The event aims to be one of the era’s biggest road openings with attendees from Warren Erie and Crawford counties.

Pinchot to Speak in Erie Friday Afternoon and Evening

Governor Gif ford Pinchot will visit Erie county on Friday October 26 to address Republican candidates. He will speak at Waterford Vocational School auditorium at 2 PM and at Erie Academy High School at 4 PM. Citizens from union City and Edinboro areas are asked to join the party for group travels to the events.

Pleads Not Guilty in Kidnapping Case in Kentucky

Frances Robinson wife of the fugitive kidnapper of Mrs. Alice Speed Stoll appeared before Federal Judge Chivas Dawson in Toumisville Kentucky and pleaded not guilty to participating in the crime. Her trial was tentatively set for October 25.

Roosevelt orders survey for upper Ohio and Delaware water projects

President Roosevelt has ordered a survey and preliminary plans for water resources development on the upper Ohio and Delaware watersheds in Pennsylvania. Democratic senatorial candidate Guffey and gubernatorial candidate Earle said the survey aims to begin construction promptly after authorization, with multi purpose dams for navigation flood control and power. They noted the National Resources Board will study coal use and hydroelectric relations with the St Lawrence. In East Liverpool Ohio chief John Fultz refused to surrender Adam Richetti to federal authorities in the Kansas City Union Station massacre case. Registration for Emergency Relief Classes Planned

Plans are in place to reorganize Emergency Relief classes for the coming winter. Enrollment will be through local school offices or by telephone at 478. Courses include mathematics, arithmetic, algebra, geometry, home economics, domestic science, typewriting, shorthand, bookkeeping and salesmanship. Commercial class enrollment is limited to unemployed relief recipients or those with prior employment.

New Proposals to Strengthen Nation's Banks
