Woman Scalded In Soap Kettle Accident

Maudvilly Pennsylvania May 21 reports a 30 year old woman, Mrs Oster, scalded when she fell into a boiling kettle of soap in the yard. Husband and wife were moving a pole supporting the kettle. she was burned on back and arm but expected to recover. Dr Montor attended the injured party.

Franklin in Pittsburg Jail in graft case

Pittsburg Pa October 21 Ahas Franklin former Perkins operative and co defendant in a graft scheme tied to sending a prisoner to France was delivered up to the Allegheny county jail after Perkins and associates bonded at 10000. Franklin who never admitted guilt faced a share of the bond while Perkins previously convicted talked of Pillshure amid the dispute triggering the arrest and remand of Franklin by Constable Scharteinger following a court hearing.

Two P O robberies in New York state

Falconer and nearby towns reel from two post office robberies. In Falconer two men used nitro glycerine to blast a safe, stealing postage stamps and cash estimated around $1,400 plus. In Cures a separate post office break in yielded pounds, stamps, and two-cent items, with entry via side door and a blown safe. Local police alerted, suspects sought.

Major fire devastates Warren business district

A large blaze in Warren Pa on October 21 destroyed the Young Men's Christian Association building on Liberty Street and gutted the Wendelhoe building to the north, damaging the McKean building to the south. Estimated losses total about 140000 with insurance coverage around 20000. A millinery stock owned by Miss McLaughlin and taken over by Rev J D W Neveu was ruined, while a paint store suffered about 5000 in damage. The incident caused by an apparent overnight collapse disrupted bank offices and prompted multiple fire alarms.
