STATE COLLEGE With 14271 students enrolled on the main campus here and at Penn State centers throughout the state Penn State has established a new record for enrollment Dr C C Williams dean of admissions and registrar reported today that 12008 students are enrolled for the fall semester on the main campus While 2176 are enrolled at villages and 92 freshmen forestry students are registered in the Mont Alto building of the Pennsylvania State Forest School at Mont Alto The campus total exceeds last year's figure of 11529 by nearly 500 students and exceeds one prior record for campus enrollment which was 11558 in 1951 The total enrollment also establishes a new record except for University years of 1948 and 1949 when Penn State freshmen were enrolled at State Teachers Colleges and other Pennsylvania colleges The record total of 14782 established in 1949 included 1269 freshmen enrolled at 18 of these Pennsylvania colleges which cooperated with Penn State on the emergency program.
