Erie County Assessment Under Fire in Protest Drive
Erie County residents in the Fifth Ward protested valuations as the equalized assessment plan faced heavy challenge on October 22. Speakers including Edward J. Leblein and J. M. Sherwin argued properties were not worth more than three years ago while county officials reviewed dozens of protests filed by landowners and local groups. The protest hearings were set to continue, with officials noting decisions would come later to avoid delaying work.
