Philadelphia Oct 1 Four youths flagged Frank Braden driving home in his car and asked for a lift. After a short drive they attacked him with blackjacks, knocked him unconscious, took his watch and $85, and threw him from the vehicle. Braden was found under the prison wall by a patrolman and taken to hospital.
Corry youth King joined the United States Marines and is stationed at Parris Island South Carolina. Formerly employed in the stereotyping department of the Journal, he left last month for a Detroit letters position and now reports to Camp. Co. B42 Parris Island is his contact.
New York Oct 10 Stocks broke badly after an early rally spurred by President Coolidge’s optimistic statement. Large amounts of stock offered on all bulges halted gains and sent prices lower, marking a sharp reversal in intraday trading.
Coroner Hanley of Erie stated the inquiry into the death of Frank Jake Wolf, a popular Union City youth, in a motor vehicle accident near Waterford Monday morning, remained incomplete with a decision anticipated tonight.
Sunbury Pennsylvania reports two Stonington men John Barret and John Lorshock were dragged 1000 feet by a Reading freight train near Mere. The engine crew halted the run and found both men alive and uninjured except for minor injuries after the pile was separated.
