Harrisburg AP. The Governor's Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse urged decriminalizing public intoxication and treating alcoholism as a sociomedical issue. The report backs House Bill 2133 to route drunks to treatment centers, plus plans for 10 Single County Authorities in 19 counties funded by 2.3 million dollars in federal aid. It notes training 1,400 teachers and expanding Addictions Prevention Laboratory centers in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, Harrisburg, Erie and State College.
Osborne Clyde Hotchkiss and Lori Sechriest are patients at Jamestown and Corry Hospitals after injuries from a fall. Dan Cornish suffers a heart attack and is hospitalized in Corry. Marvin F. Nelson of Corry was reelected director of Dairylea Cooperative District 17, serving parts of Chautauqua County New York and Warren Erie Crawford counties in Pennsylvania. A longtime cooperative member since 1953, he managed sub district duties since 1969 and farms 210 acres with 80 Holsteins near Union City Pennsylvania. Nelson has held Agway roles, directs Union City Cooperatives Association, and was eight years judge of election in Erie County. He is married to Loretta Johnson and they have three children Gerald Gregory and Jay Marie.
