County Taxes Could Jump By Two Mills
Erie County commissioners and officials began budgeting for the coming year with a warning of a possible two mill increase in property taxes. The 1973 budget was 15.3 million. 1974 could reach 18 million, with at least two and a half mills from reduced federal funds and wage hikes. A projected surplus may not offset the new costs, depending on whether commissioners approve major projects.
