Curtis Retains Johnsonburg Paper Mill
Curtis Publishing Co announces in Boston that it will not sell the Johnsonburg Pennsylvania paper mill. Martin S. Ackerman, 36, new president and chair in chief, says the mill with $15 million book value will be kept as it can produce paper cheaper than buying. The mill makes 42-pound magazine paper at $172 per ton and is the largest single employer in Johnsonburg with about 850 workers.
