Cities Join Plea for Extra Hearings on Auto Insurance Hike
Insurance Commissioner Maxwell weighs additional hearings on a proposed 114 million dollar auto insurance rate increase in Pennsylvania urged by Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and the PA AFL-CIO. AFL-CIO cites industry claims of a 42 percent rise vs a 4 percent compromise. NBCU and NAUA seek wide rate hikes while attorneys question accounting methods and actual losses versus incurred losses in determining premiums. A separate note reports six year old Joey Washington raising 500 dollars in a school candy drive, doubling last year’s total.

Area Country Club Hit By Burglars
WARREN The Conewango Valley Country Club was broken into for the second time this season. Golf pro Ed Morgante said his shop was entered between Monday evening and yesterday morning. nothing was taken but clubs and bags owned by members were inspected. Entry was gained by breaking a rear door glass and unlocking from inside. The pro shop door was forced open but Morgante believes cash was not found. Checks around $600 remained intact. A prior September break-in hit the tap room via a broken window with about $100 taken from the cash register. State police from Warren are investigating both incidents.
