Franklin residents reported a critical condition for Richard Hanson age unknown, son of Mr and Mrs Leon Hanson, after drinking kerosene from a bottle left on a table by his father who intended to fill a lamp. The incident occurred Monday evening at Franklin.

Jamestown police and a small posse hunted a black bear spotted by Ray Nord near All en street extension after nightfall. The bear, about 300 pounds, eluded capture despite armed officers and a car block. No injuries reported as the animal disappeared into a quarry area.
