Stubborn Woods Fire Flares Again at Gates Farm

Corry departments were called out for a third time to the Neil Gates farm near Corry to extinguish a smoldering woods fire that began Monday afternoon. Twenty seven men from two companies used 2300 gallons of water and 000 feet of hose to quell flames near timber owned by Green Brothers of Blackville. A bulldozer cleared a fire rink around the moldering center and the state forestry service was notified. A state fire inspector will check the area to determine the actual cause and completion of extinguishing the fire, said Jack Downey, fire chief.
