J J Slattery Dies After Erie Injuries

Corry resident J J Slattery died at St Vincent's Hospital in Erie from injuries suffered August 16 when a ladder broke during roof repairs at 720 North Center street. He was 75 and had long overseen telegraph maintenance for the Erie Railroad. He retired years ago and is survived by his son Francis Slattery and other family. Saegertown Man Admits Slaying His Estranged Wife

McGuire 27, son of Saegertown residents, walked into a Los Angeles police substation and admitted he killed his estranged wife Ruth McGuire 31 after a quarrel. Deputies later found her body in a car outside the station. He described a Las Vegas marriage in 1940 and said he planned to return to his parents in Saegertown before defense work.
