Byrd notes 245,000 American women have undetected cancer and highlights 275,000 screened over three years with 100 cancers found early.
Washington AP Special Watergate prosecutor Charles Ruff cleared President Ford of wrongdoing in connection with campaign finances during his House tenure. The inquiry found no corroborative evidence of violations and noted the informant had no motive to fabricate. The probe, requested by Atty. Gen. Levi, also involved unions such as the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association and Seafarers International Union.
In Judge William Pratt's courtroom the Okey Bages murder trial opened with jurors hearing two rival versions of Orville Huff's death on April 27. The site formerly housed Dr John Kibler medical offices and later Attorney William Peiffer offices before razing.
