Miller the Brookville Burglar Mystery Unfolds

A Brookville hotel burglary ends with a man identified as M. S. Baldwin of Pittsburg using a complete burglar’s kit. Police suspect the visitor, a 28 to 30 year old about 6 feet 4 inches tall and 120 pounds, is linked to the Miller alias and the failed claim of a death by own action. The case remains under surveillance as investigators pursue the truth.

Pipie Boys Lose Employment After Acquittal

Prosecution in the case of the Pipie brothers ends with acquittal for the murder of Dave Gustafson. Since the trial the Sheffield area atmosphere has turned against them making work scarce. They find work at a Youngaville brick yard but are quickly forced out when fellow workers discover their identity. State Convention to Meet in Erie

Sherman Man Pays Fine for Post Office Money Order Fraud

Monroe J. Mesenger of Sherman was arraigned in United States Court for sending an $8 post office money order to New York that yielded $800. The court fined him $50, with co counsel urging a suspended sentence citing weak intellect and lack of profit. Local citizens and business leaders petitioned in his favor, noting the case showed cautious handling and a suspended sentence was possible.
