Heavy fog contributed to two fatal crashes near Corry and Brokenstraw Airport. George Andrew Stafford, 18, of Union City died after being struck on Route seven miles west of Corry by a car driven by Fay Nowalk, 56, as Stafford reportedly walked along the highway. Mrs. George Senchuk, 48, of Youngsville died when her car was hit by a westbound passenger train at a guarded crossing near Brokenstraw Airport. Both victims were leaving homes to begin or resume daily duties, and state police labeled the train incident a crossing accident while absolving the driver of Stafford’s crash of responsibility.
