Poor Board of County Faces Huge Deficit

HRI Oct 12 The present board of directors will end its regime with a deficit of at least 150000 dollars. Chairman Harry Wagner announced at the courthouse that the figure may be slightly higher, with little chance it will be less. County commissioners advanced 1000 today, leaving just under 30000 of 450000 set aside for relief work. The deficit results from unpaid bills run on credit, Erie County likely to assume them. Controller Harvey Willis weighs borrowing to cover the shortfall. Wagner earlier warned the deficit could exceed 200000, now estimating about 150000.
