Swing Back to Democrats in South Reported
An older United Press dispatch dated October 12 reports a confidential survey noting fifteen southern and border states leaning toward Roosevelt, with nine of them previously Republican in 1928. Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Texas show potential Democratic strength, while Virginia may lack Hoover enthusiasm and Republicans see a split. The analysis highlights a shift away from the long standing solid South perception and suggests Roosevelt could secure enough electoral votes to reach a majority.
