City Market crowd faces long wait as whisky rationing looms
Early today a massive line formed at City Market on South Center Street as merchants warned of two days of operation ahead if beet supplies hold. The Liquor Control Board in Harrisburg announced ample rationed whisky for Christmas with 150000 cases earmarked, including 75000 cases of a new blend, though scarce whisky remains rationed. Local notes include hotel purchase in Ridgway, deer-vehicle incidents in Chautauqua, and sports and civic notices from Erie to Corry.

Erie County to seek one mill tax hike for 1947 budget
Erie County plans a one mill tax increase to balance the 1947 budget. Controller Harvey M. Willis says the extra mill, overdue for five years, would fund county employee raises and rising expenses while keeping pay-as-you-go. The tuberculosis hospital needs about 15,000 more than this year and the county institution district also requests more funds.
