Tokyo radio claimed without confirmation that two U S ships including an aircraft carrier and a destroyer were sunk while others were damaged after Japanese submarines attacked a group of enemy carriers east of Halmed. Spencer, based in England with the American Air Forces, credited with destroying ten German planes and numerous other achievements, met his infant for the first time yesterday at Corry Hospital.
District Attorney Anthony Brazil described Mrs Prances Andrew as a jealous woman who plotted to murder Handsome Jay Lovett, a 10 year old heir, in Salinas California. The prosecutor claimed she overplayed the role in a dramatic assignment to the jury during the homicide trial.
Corry’s War Fund quota of $12500 was accepted after a conference with Alec Sisson Erie chair, based on a $3 gift per city employee and $10 per carrier or woman in the armed service. The local campaign schedule and methods are to be finalized within days.

Pittsburgh reports a 24 year old mother of three is held on an open charge in the slaying of her five month old son Ner. The woman, Mrs Mary OBrien, was in the family living room when she suddenly seized a knife and killed the infant in the kitchen before fleeing to a nearby street. Corbett quoted local authorities saying the mother is recovering at Tatnyview Hospital two years later.
