Murder Trial Set for October Fourteenth in Jamestown
Jamestown, Oct 7. Hugh Frite Gronberg, 44, charged with first degree murder in the May 27 killing of Ruth Gibbons Briggs, 41, will go to trial on Tuesday, October 14, per District Attorney Edwin G. O'Connor. Columbus Day caused a one day postponement. From a 48 juror panel 28 remain eligible for trial, with three held for October 14. Justice George H. Rowe appointed Julius Weinberg foreman and Glenn Boutwell acting foreman of the grand jury. Seven of a 34 panel were excused.
