Green of Erie appeared on the car. Green, said to have left Erie thirty days ago, was being sought by police. Also announced were about 300 Methodist Episcopal appointments by Bishop Adna Wright Leonard at the Pittsburgh Conference closing session.
A powerful blast on Chicago's northwest side at a soya scan plant left an initial death toll not yet confirmed with early estimates as high as 20 and 25 to 30 injured. Windows shattered for blocks and pedestrians knocked to the ground as responders rushed to the scene.

Board of Education City Council and Erie county commissioners will meet in a joint session Monday afternoon October 14 to fix the city treasurer salary. The treasurer will collect all taxes starting with 1936. the date and place were fixed this morning after prior postponements.
C A Anderson 58 of Westfield died when his car left the road near the Wattsburg fair grounds and overturned. He was alone, believed to have fallen asleep or lost control. Former Westfield merchant, en route to Brush Valley to move family. widow and seven children survive.
Passing motorists discover Albert Gabrielson with head injuries at the wheel of a truck that struck a tree four miles south of Nev e. He is taken to Adrian hospital in serious condition. In a separate crash, Jack Rumfella 28 of Clearfield is killed when his car crashes into a Pennzoil truck driven by C. W. Mitchell Burnside near here. Five other occupants escape with minor injuries.
Samuel Apt, 42, of Clymer, pleaded guilty to failing to stop at an accident scene, aggravated assault and battery, and drunken driving. He is held in county prison on $1,000 bail after a hearing before Justice Wal ter F Goodwin Wesleyville. Apt was arrested after a six week search for the auto that struck Bernard Kresneskey of Hammiett near his home in early August.
Frank Gilbert aged 65 died at his Sharon home. He was the only GA R member born after the Civil War and served as mayor of Sharon. Gilbert led the National Protected Home Circle as supreme treasurer and belonged to 12 other lodges and groups. A former newspaperman and Mercer County Bar Association member, his GA R membership was honorary since he was born in 1869, four years after the war ended.
Ethiopia will demand withdrawal of Italian troops before peace talks as the League of Nations council deliberates. Italy’s actions provoke calls for sanctions while reports accuse Italian forces of advancing toward Djibouti Addis Ababa and northern Ethiopia.
Corry will stage a Halloween event for youngsters under local supervision to curb mischief and vandalism. The YY, M. GA announced the plan this morning and expects an observance similar to prior years unless another group steps in.
