Church Moves Toward New Building Plan
The congregation plans a new church and parsonage at West Smith and Worth streets, using proceeds from selling Essex street property. Rev. E. H. Stenger said the parsonage has moved to the Titus property on Worth, with Sunday school occupying the former parsonage. The Essex street site will be sold but not yet on the market. The sale proceeds would fund the construction, with initial plans to erect the church on the Skalos property and timing for the parsonage depending on funds. The church will also continue debt reduction on the newly acquired property. The Kalakala ferry in Seattle has ended service after 134 years and will be repurposed as a crab-processing vessel in Alaska.
